UN OBSERVERS DECIDE TO END MONITORING IN SYRIA

Violence continues unabated in Syria where UN observers have decided to end their monitoring on the grounds that they have no security of life. The Syrian forces are bombing Homs, which according to initial reports has left 11 people dead.

The bombing campaign which has been raging for a month now has very recently intensified.

The Syrian Human Rights Watch has made an appeal to the UN for more than 1000 families in the town to be urgently evacuated. The organization says that women and children in particular are at great risk.
