The Palestine government in Gaza has claimed that Israel used chemical weapons and poisonous gas in the latest wave of attacks on the Gaza strip and demanded the launching of an international investigation with the participation of the UN and the UN Human Rights Committee.
A statement made by the Palestine Foreign and Planning Ministries says that UN Secretary General Ban ki Moon and UNHCR Navi Pillay were called on the urgently open an investigation.
The statement says further that of the 21 Palestinians exposed to poisonous gas, 2 have lost their lives.
The more than 40 attacks Israel has carried out on different parts of Gaza since June 18 have killed 16 people, 4 of them children, and injured over 70 people.
Silence prevails in the Gaza strip in the wake of Egypt's mediation efforts started a week after Israel's attacks.
