A catalogue of Spanish painter Francisco de Goya's exhibition titled, "Witness of His Time ...Engravings and Paintings" is also ready for the visitors.

The catalogue, both in Turkish and English, has been prepared within the scope of the exhibition, which was opened on April 20, and the catalogue is now on sale at Pera Museum Art Shop and other book shops.

"At the age of 70, Goya made the series of engravings titled Tauromaquia (1815-1816). At the time, he was in dire economic straits, in addition on May 5th 1814 prior censorship of the prints had been reinstated and the Inquisition had been re-established. From this point of view, the bullfighting, to which Goya had been very fond of ever since he was young, seemed the most appropriate subject for a series of engravings," said the catalogue on Goya.

The catalogue printed by the Pera Museum Publications, has writings of exhibition curator Marisa Orapesa, and of famous art historians Wifredo Rincon Garcia, Ricardo Centellas Salamero on Goya.

"Goya: Witness of His Time" will stay open to visit until 29 July, 2012, at Istanbul's Pera Museum.
