Turkey's first homemade training plane has been taken out of the hangar.
Speaking at the launching ceremony Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan drew strict lines against Syria.
Erdoğan said that Turkey would not hesitate to rap the knuckles of those, who aspire to test Turkey's might.
Erdoğan underlined that Turkey was now realizing extremely significant defense projects.
Stating that he is happy to see a plane designed and produced in Turkey take flight Erdoğan said "This plane is our first step."
Turkish Air Forces pilots will be trained with these planes, once they are out of the mass production line.
100% Turkish design plane carries avionic systems, also written by Turkish engineers.
The project, which began in 2006, will be completed in April 2013.
After completion of the test flights, Hürkuş will enter the mass production line.
TAI did not only showcase the Hürkuş project.
Turkey's own drone ANKA was also in the air throughout the ceremony.
