ŞAHIN RECEIVES NEWSMEN FROM IRBIL

Şahin called attention to the importance of Turkmens living in the north of Iraq and said TRT was going to be the eye and ear of the Turks living in that region.

Şahin spoke of the educative programmes TRT broadcast in their region and said that there would more in a simple and subtle way in the news bulletins about the history of Turkmens, the real history of that region and what is happening there now. He said further that Irbil was of strategic importance for Turkey and TRT was going to act in line with that fact in mind and TRT would be at the disposal of Turkmeneli when it came to eliciting TRT's assistance in the way broadcasting.

The editor-in-chief of the Saray newspaper in Irbil İmat Rifat spoke of the common history and culture between the two countries.
