The draft will be taken up at tomorrow's session of the Bundestag. The ruling by a Cologne court that circumcision is a criminal offence had caused an uproar from the Muslims and Jews alike. The strong and intense reaction from both segments of German society has prompted the government and the opposition to come up with an initiative leading to the legalization of circumcision.
The parties represented in the federal parliament have worked together on a draft which is expected to be voted on in a private session on Thursday.
The draft will ask the government to place the practice of circumcision on a legal framework.
